Post Production Our Town – a Word From the Chairperson
Martin Challenges Bualadh Bos!
At the beginning of the 2009/2010 Drama Season Margaret Martin challenged Bualadh Bos to produce a Supper Event and a more serious play than was usual for the Group.
Bualadh Bos rose to that challenge and produced two very successful events this year.
‘Our Town’ was particularly challenging, calling for great sound effects, mime, makeup, costume and lighting. Under Margaret’s direction each team combined with the actors to create a great performance and hugely enjoyable show. Margaret is a demanding woman! She’s tenacious, determined and pushes us to dig deep, find our creative side and our, often untapped, talents – we are immensely grateful to her. It’s been a fantastic learning curve for us, and Margaret has been generosity itself in sharing her wealth of knowledge.
The Actors of the Our Town production held the audience, me included, in the palm of their hands, fantastic work. The cast were phenomenal, taking on several jobs, creating the set and working on committee as well as staying committed to their acting roles. They say never, in theatre, work with Children or animals. I think we had the very best Kids! They were great actors and it was a joy to work with them. And that horse behaved herself very nicely too!!
However, no matter how great the Cast, this production could not have gone ahead without the incredible hard work and dedication of the supporting teams Production, Front of House and Committee. As Chairperson of Bualadh Bos may I say I am full of admiration for the effort put in by every one. It’s been my pleasure to work with you on the ‘Our Town’ Production -Congratulations on your Success. To steal the words of the ‘Our Town’ gossip - Don’t you just love a good Drama?
